Introduction
New Hampshire is a state of many faces. It's home to the White Mountains and the seacoast, and it contains everything from rolling green hills to dense forests. No matter where you're heading in this northern New England state, you'll find beautiful scenery that will make your trip worthwhile. Here are some of our favorite places to visit when you travel New Hampshire:
Amherst
The town of Amherst is named after an English town in Hampshire, England. Established as a township in 1780, it was incorporated as a town by Governor John Langdon on February 14, 1808.
The village of Amherst was originally part of the town of Amherst and became its own entity when it incorporated in 1799. It occupies 3.2 square miles (8.3 km²), while the whole town encompasses 31 square miles (80 km²).
Hampton Beach
Hampton Beach is a popular summer destination that is known for its beautiful boardwalk, restaurants and shopping. The beach is also very family friendly, with activities like mini golf and bumper boats for kids. There are several hotels on the shore that offer discounted rates during off-season months (November through April).
New Hampshire International Speedway
New Hampshire International Speedway is located in Loudon, New Hampshire. The track hosts events all year round and is the home of NASCAR races. The 1.058-mile oval track has been open since 1990, but was completely remodeled in 1994 to increase its capacity from 60,000 to 120,000 seats. It includes a quarter mile oval track and a 1/2 mile road course that runs alongside the oval track inside NHIS’ infield area.
The NHIS has hosted many famous drivers including Jeff Gordon (4), Tony Stewart (3), Jimmie Johnson (2), Dale Earnhardt Jr.(2) and Kyle Busch(2). They also host events like “WinterFest” which is held every February with drag racing and other winter sports like snowmobiling or ice fishing contests for those who want to try something different during the cold months of wintertime when the ground outside is covered with snow!
If you’re planning on attending an event at NHIS then parking will be free if you arrive early enough before gates open around 11am on Saturdays or Sundays so plan accordingly! There are no restrooms available except inside security checkpoints where they have portable toilets set up near each entrance gate; so make sure you go beforehand because once inside there’s nowhere else outside besides porta potties unless you leave again right away - which isn't recommended unless absolutely necessary because leaving means losing your spot without guaranteed reentry later on down the road when traffic gets heavy again...
Mount Washington
Mount Washington is the highest peak in New Hampshire, and it's also the home of a weather station. The mountain has an elevation of 6,288 feet (1,916 meters). It straddles the border between Pinkham Notch and Crawford Notch along Route 16.
To get to the top of Mount Washington, you can drive or take a tour bus to any one of several locations: The Mount Washington Observatory at 6288 feet (1916m) atop Mount Washington; Glen House at 4906 feet (1495 m); Tuckerman Ravine Trailhead on U.S. Route 302 at 4825 feet (1478m); Gale Head Hut at 3824 feet (1165 m); Upper Basin Trailhead at 4496 feet (1349 m); AMC Highland Center Trailhead at 4861 feet (1472 m); Huntington Ravine Trailhead on U.S. Route 302 just south of Pinkham Notch Visitor Center; Hermit Lake Shelters near Tuckerman Ravine Shelter; Ammonoosuc Ravine Shelter near Mizpah Spring Lodge; Cascade Lodge in Crawford Notch State Park
Lake Winnipesaukee
Lake Winnipesaukee is the largest lake in New Hampshire, with a surface area of over 70 square miles. It is also a popular tourist destination and the center of many summer activities, including sailing and windsurfing. In addition to being a great place for fishing and boating, the lake offers many beautiful places to visit around its shoreline.
One specific area that stands out for its natural beauty is Loon Bay State Marine Park on Lake Altona. This park has 2 miles of sandy beaches along an arm of Lake Winnipesaukee that's connected via a narrow channel at low tide. It's also home to several rare plants and animals, such as yellow-bellied sapsucker woodpeckers, horned grebes (ducks with red bills), bald eagles (birds with white heads) and white-tailed deer (animals with four legs). Although it's only open during summer months when there aren't any storms coming in from Canada or elsewhere up north due to global warming issues caused by human activity like deforestation worldwide."
White Mountains
The White Mountains are an ideal place for a road trip or vacation. You can hike, ski or snowmobile on trails and in the woods, tour historical sites and museums, or even go tubing down a river. There's plenty to do here!
Canterbury
Canterbury is a town in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 4,636 at the 2010 census. Canterbury was incorporated in 1824 and named after Canterbury, England. It contains several villages within its bounds: Bow Lake Village (also known as Bow Lake), East Canterbury (also known as East Canter), South Canterbury (also known as South Canter), West Canterbury (also known as West Canter).
Weirs Beach
Weirs Beach is a popular summer destination in New Hampshire's Lakes Region. With plenty of shops, restaurants and nightlife to explore, it's the perfect place to spend a day at the beach with your family or friends. Parking is plentiful, and there are paved paths that lead from one end of Weirs Beach to another.
If you're looking for something more adventurous than laying out on the sand all day long, check out The Granite Gorge Rail Trail—a rail trail that was once used as train tracks for transporting granite from quarries in Mt. Cube (just outside of town) to other areas in New England where there were construction projects going on at the time. The trail has designated biking routes so cyclists can enjoy some fresh air while taking in views of Lake Winnipesaukee!
