Introduction

The state of Minnesota has a lot to offer. It's got beautiful lakes, forests, and hills. It's also got some pretty cool towns that you can visit while you're there. So if you're thinking about taking a trip to Minnesota, here are some places I recommend visiting:

Faribault

Faribault is a city in Rice County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 20,923 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area.

The city was founded by Antoine Le Claire and Louis Faribault in 1854 as they guided trapper fur traders through their lands; it later became an important railroad town and distribution center for agriculture products.

New Ulm

New Ulm is located in Brown County and is the county seat. The city was founded in 1854 by German immigrants who came to Minnesota seeking religious freedom and economic opportunity. There are more than 25 historic buildings in town, including those that have been preserved by the German Heritage Society of New Ulm.

New Ulm was also home to a music box factory owned by Anton Bruck, which produced about two million music boxes between 1876 and 1896 (including one for Queen Victoria). Now you can see all of Bruck's creations at the Bruck Museum in New Ulm!

St. Cloud

St. Cloud is a charming town with a strong German heritage and plenty of natural attractions to explore. The city is home to St. Cloud State University, but it’s also a great place for families or retirees looking for an affordable place to retire. As the largest city in Minnesota, it has plenty to offer as well!

Hinckley

  • Population: 8,603

  • Distance from St. Cloud: 30 miles

  • Distance from Minneapolis: 53 miles

  • Distance from Duluth: 150 miles

What to do there? There are plenty of things to do in Hinckley, MN. You can visit the local rodeo grounds or head to Black Bear Casino for some gambling fun! If you want something less exciting, you could visit a nearby lake or hike around the Hinckley State Forest. In addition to all this excitement, there are also plenty of restaurants in town—including Chinese food at Oriental Palace Buffet & Restaurant as well as American fare at Cabin Grillhouse and Bar & Lounge!

Walker

Walker

If you want to get away from it all, head to Walker. Located in the south central portion of Cass County and part of the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Statistical Area, Walker is a city that has plenty of room for you to spread out. The population was 8,716 at the 2010 census.

Ely

The city of Ely is located in St. Louis County, Minnesota. It's about a four-hour drive from Duluth and six hours from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The city is known for its mining history, as well as its winter tourism industry.

Ely was founded in 1893 by Alexander Wilson after he discovered copper ore on his land near the town of Soudan (on the edge of Lake Vermilion) while looking for treasure with a dowsing rod (the mythological tool used to find water). When Wilson found out that there was also iron ore on his property, he built a smelter across the lake and began operations in 1897. In 1901, Ely was incorporated into a village; it became a city in 1908—taking its name from a nearby mountain called Mount Elmer—and has been growing ever since!

Fergus Falls

Fergus Falls is a city in Otter Tail County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 10,739 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Otter Tail County.

Fergus Falls was founded in 1884 by Scottish immigrants from Ferguslie Park near Paisley and Glasgow on land they had purchased from Wabasha-based lumber baron Alexander Ramsey. At first it was called "Mayfield", but when another town in Minnesota named Mayfield tried to take its name away (it failed), locals changed it to "Fergus" after their hometowns' patron saint St Fergusson who may have been banished there because he challenged the king's authority during persecution of Christians under Roman rule.[2] When a post office opened there in 1892, however; it was called "Fergus Falls".

Wheaton

Wheaton is a city in Anoka County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 13,165 at the 2010 census. Wheaton was incorporated as a village in 1876, and was named after Wheaton, Illinois.

The town of West St. Paul lies immediately west of the city limits of neighboring Saint Paul to the east, while to its north is Ramsey County's Dayton neighborhood and Maplewood Township; to its south are communities within Anoka County such as Oak Grove Township; and to its west are North Oaks (home to Concordia University) and Lino Lakes."

Brainerd

Brainerd is the county seat of Crow Wing County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 15,807 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Brainerd Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Brainerd lies on the south shore of Lake Vermilion and is known as "The Crown Jewel City".

Thief River Falls

The city of Thief River Falls is located in Pennington County, Minnesota. It is the county seat of Pennington County and it's also located at the junction of the Red River and Thief River. The city was founded in 1893 by early settlers who came from Norway, Ireland and Sweden.

These are some towns you can visit in Minnesota.

  • La Crescent: This town is located in La Crescent, Minnesota and has about 8,000 residents. The population of the town is mainly white people. It is also one of the oldest towns in Minnesota and was established by French-Canadian fur traders who were looking for a place to settle down after moving down from Canada.

  • Stillwater: This town is situated on the St. Croix River and has a population of over 18,000 people. It was founded by an American fur trader named William Aitkin around 1825 but was later sold to John Stevens III who then built his castle there during the years 1859-1861.

  • Alexandria: This small town only has about 1,500 residents but it does have its own attractions that include “The House On The Rock” and “Alexandria Trails Regional Park” which are great places to visit if you're planning on visiting this place anytime soon!

Conclusion

We hope you enjoyed reading about these fun-filled places in Minnesota. We know you may want to visit one or two of them on your next trip here.
